Nexus Interactive Trailer Interface

the Nexus Interactive Trailer Interface is designed to enable the operator to couple and uncouple at ground level, adjacent to the vehicle

Through a single rail system comprising of two channels FPD Ltd has obtained 75% of free movement of the trailer service distribution plate (SDP) across the front headboard of the trailer, and at the same time provided three simple operations to enable the SDP to be pulled out beyond the side of the trailer.

Located on the right hand side is the 3-latch system, which the driver has to operate in sequence.

Operation Sequence:

First: The service distribution plate is drawn across to the right hand side and retained with a simple key bolt assembly (Red handle slide bolt into keyhole located on the service distribution plate).

Second: Remove the manual lynch clip, which retains the inner and outer channel.

Third: Lift the yellow handle on top of the outer channel and at the same time pull the service distribution plate towards you across the headboard; keep pulling until the services distribution is out beyond the trailer and you hear the bolt latch into the hole provided.  This locks the inner rail in the open position to allow the services to be connected or disconnected from the trailer.

By applying the above sequence in reverse the unit is then back into normal operating mode.

The second operation of inserting the lynch pin back in its correct location is the most important.

On the left hand side of the unit is a pneumatic isolating valve, which prevents the air supply entering the trailer system (emergency) when the unit is open, but allows the trailer valves to operate normally. When the inner rail is in the closed position the air supply flows through the valve to charge the trailer system ready for operation.
